WGC Landscapes Ltd was appointed Main Contractor for the refurbishment of this run-down precinct involving new paving, trees, lighting and overhead wing structures. The precinct gives access to the County Court building and various shop premises on the ground floor and flats above.

Existing bitmac, concrete flags, concrete bollards, lighting columns and street furniture were removed to allow for the installation of resin bound surfacing, ramped accesses, a new drainage system, electricity supply to feeder pillar, stainless steel illuminated bollards, stainless steel lighting columns with overhead wings and banner fixings, ground lights and new semi-mature tree planting in Arboresin-surfaced pits with root directors, barriers, underground guying and irrigation system.

This exciting project was delivered on time and within budget. WGC successfully managed the nominated specialist sub-contractor and ensured that safe access for the County Court, businesses and residents was maintained throughout the progress of the works.

This involved partial night-time closure of the highway in order to minimise disruption to local businesses including a large supermarket and all the necessary permissions and traffic controls.

Wood Green, Castleford was a ground breaking scheme for Wakefield District Housing. It involved Groundwork, Wakefield in consultations with residents to produce a design with components to suit all ages.

Garden boundaries were provided as a priority to provide security for properties.

The large and characterless central space was developed to provide amenities for all members of the community, with a residents garden containing a pergola, seating, bird bath and planting.

Play features were also incorporated to suit all ages from toddlers to teenagers, all overlooked by surrounding dwellings and therefore being self-policing.

CHEQUERS CLOSE, PONTEFRACT

Chequers Close was named after the old name for the Wild Service tree which historically grew on this site.

Typical of many developments of this period, the area had become run down and no longer provided it's residents with an acceptable quality of environment.

These issues were addressed by the demolition of asbsetos-roofed garages, provision of secure garden boundaries, improved parking and an attractively planted central green space.

THE GLADE, MENSTON

A new residential estate built within the grounds of the former hospital known as High Royds, Menston. WGC were awarded the contract for installation SureSet resin bound driveways to individual properties.

As an approved contractor for SureSet, this is just one of the many uses for resin bonded surfacing, which can add the finishing touch to any hard landscaping project.

KINGS MEAD, PONTEFRACT

As part of a regeneration scheme through Wakefield District Housing, WGC were awarded a contract for environmental works, which allowed for hard and soft landscaping improvements within a residential area called Kings Mead.

The scheme involved refurbishment works to both wooden and metal work fence lines, brick walling, gates, block paved driveways and garden landscaping.

CLIFFORD AVENUE, WAKEFIELD

The current delivery of a multi skilled contract for hard and soft landscaping refurbishment works, which are being put into fruition on the ground in a Wakefield residential area known as Clifford Avenue.

Wakefield District Housing requested that WGC carried on delivering the works around the urban regeneration theme, which have proved such a success in previous locations?like the Kings Mead Estate.

PORTOBELLO FOUR SHOPS, WAKEFIELD

In early 2012, WGC Landscapes completed the delivery of a small scale landscaping refurbishment scheme, via a working partnership with Wakefield District Housing - to the front of Portobello Shops, Duke of York Avenue

This scheme renewed old paved/tarmac areas, rejuvenated shrub beds and saw additional features installed such as bespoke metal work fencing, bins, bollards and art work.

SIR ROBERT OGDEN MACMILLAN CENTRE, HARROGATE

WGC Landscapes Ltd were appointed to carry out the external landscaping work at the Sir Robert Ogden Macmillian Centre in Harrogate.

The hard works included macadam and sureset surfacing, paving and installation of site furniture such as external mirrors and bollards

The soft works included establishment of shrubs within a courtyard garden and the site boundary. Planting of trees and a new challenge for WGC laying sedum mating.

LOWER FERRY, FRYSTON PHASE 2

Through succesful completion of Phase 1 at Lower Ferry, Fryston. WGC Landscapes Ltd was awarded the external works package from Wakefield District Housing to complete Phase 2. As on Phase 1 the hard and soft landscaping was designing by Groundwork Wakefield, who are also administrating the contract.

LOWER FERRY, FRYSTON PHASE 1

WGC successfully secured an external refurbishment works package from a large housing association; WDH. The hard and soft landscaping was designed by Groundwork Wakefield who were also administrating the contract

WGC started work in late March 2013, which involved construction of brick walling, brick piers, metal railings and gates with improvements to off street parking using permeable Aquaflow paving. Boundaries will be re-fenced with new lawns to front and to the rear of some properties. Works were completed in Novemeber 2013 with Phase 2 started in early 2014.

THE RIVERS SOUTH, CASTLEFORD

As part of a regeneration scheme through Wakefield District Housing, WGC were awarded a contract for environmental works, which allowed for hard and soft landscaping improvements within a residential area called The Rivers South.

The scheme involved refurbishment works to 5km of boumndary walling, wooden and metal work fence lines. Removal of garages and full refrubishment of parking areas with macadam, block paving and turfing.

The scheme took 12 months to complete with the final stage of the project including installation of sculptures.

Sculpture works
